Please do not sell this pattern - you may sell what you make, share the pattern and/or post back to this site.
I used Red Heart Baby Sport in multi-colored yarn and trimmed in a lavender picot shell border -
all #3 medium size yarn
With size J Hook, CH100 or however as wide as you want in multiples of 2
ROW 1 - DC in 5th CH from Hook, DC, CH2, SC, SKIP next 2, do *2DC, CH2, SC* across to end; at the end of the row, CH4, turn
ROW 2 and thereafter - 2DC in 1st CH space, CH2, SC, SKIP next 2, repeat * till blanket is as long as you want it; fasten off.
NOTE - sometimes it is hard for me to describe what I do, since I make it up as I go, so please feel free to ask questions or let me know if the pattern needs to be revised. Thank you!
BORDER: First, do DC in every open space with (2DC, CH1, 2DC) in every corner.
Then, between each DC, do the shell - 2DC, (picot = CH2, go back in bottom of 1st CH), 2DC all around blanket (with shell, CH2, shell in every corner); fasten off.
Thanks for sharing this! I was hoping you would.
ReplyDeleteyou're welcome - again, it's hard for me to explain when i do things "by ear" - so if you have any questions - feel free to email me at janetethridge1@gmail.com
DeletePlease do a tutorial Thank you
DeleteHi Janet, thanks for sharing the pattern. Are you really using a 'J' hook with light '3' baby sport yarn? It seems a little off to me? My yarn is thinner than worsted, and I normally only use 'J' hooks for thick, chunky projects. Thanks again-I'm starting this tonight for a good friend who's due soon!
ReplyDeletei tend to crochet tight, so feel free to try a smaller hook - if you do, make your beginning chain bigger, like maybe to 120 or 150
DeleteDo u have a pattern for the baby hat with the flower? I would love to make some up for my cosines new baby
ReplyDeleteThe basic hat pattern - for the trim, i just added a simple shell border - didn't use a pattern or write the trim down but if you want I can try to figure it out for you

Can you please post how many skeins of yard this pattern uses? Thank you. I want to do it but don't want to under buy as I might not be able to match the color if I should run out.
ReplyDeleteI have been making this blanket but the instruction are a little off. For row two it should be as Sonia Benefeld (April 30) has said.
ReplyDeleteAlso from the picture the instructions for the border don't match the picture for the pattern. I see (3dc, ch 1) along the sides done in 2 rose and then and then the last row looks like shell (2dc, picot, 2dc) in the space around the border.
Funny my name is Janet Marie also ❤️
ReplyDeleteJanet Ethridge, thank you for sharing this pattern; it is beautiful! I greatly appreciate it.
ReplyDeletethank you for sharing this pattern. It has been my favorite stitch for many years now. I just wish I could find the color of varigated yarn that you used. I love it. thanks again. if you happen to the exact color I would appreciate it.

ReplyDeleteHOWDY ALL! I am having trouble trying to log in and use this old blog - CORRECTION to pattern - after each row end with ch4 - my mistake. ALSO, I have a newer site that this one is linked to - go to http://janetmariehopechest.blogspot.com - all newer stuff and old stuff on this one
ReplyDeleteu said ch100 n multiples of 2. is that using two strands?
ReplyDeleteHi Glenda, when she says "multiples of 2", she is referring to if you want to change the size. You would either ch100, 102, 104, etc until you reach the desired size.

DeleteHi Janet, wanted to know where I could find the pattern for the cute crochet baby hat that's shown with the blanket.
Beautiful blanket can't wait to get started, do you also have the pattern for the hat, mittens, and booties? would love to make a couple of these for the hospital ward for the New Year's Baby, this would be a fantastic gift. Thank you again for the afghan pattern. LOVE IT!!!
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely love this blanket ! Could you please explain the pattern for the border for me? TIA.
ReplyDeleteDo you have the pattern for the booties?
ReplyDeleteAfter I saw this once, I have been trying to find the pattern, have another great granddaughter coming so making this for her. Thanks for the pattern!
ReplyDeleteOk I have tried this now twice and mine keeps curling up which tells me there are too many stitches, I tried it without the 2 ch after the 2 DC and it doesn't curl but I am continually widening now as I go?
ReplyDeleteI was wondering what the overall size for this darling blanket was? I need to make a blanket for a charity that measures at lest 36" by 36".
ReplyDeleteIs my 2 DC crochet with picot consider the shell...please help I'm confuse..thankyou
ReplyDeleteI am confused on second row after 2 Dc 2 chains and sc, do you skip 2 chains, or 2 chain spaces?
ReplyDeleteWould like to know if you have shared the accessories patterns also
