With size G hook (H if you crochet loose), CH32 (until measures 5-5.5-inches) (for larger baby - increase to 6-7 inches)
ROW 1 = HDC in backloop of 3rd Ch from hook (counts as first HDC - do backloops throughout); HDC across (approx 29 HDCs); CH2, turn
ROW 2 = HDC across; CH2, turn
REPEAT ROW 2 (till approx 10.5-11 inches) (for larger baby, make 12-14 inches)
do not fasten off yet - fold in half (should be at least 5.5 inches when folded) - slipstitch across; leave long tail, at least 12 inches; with needle, wave through top, pull string; then sew together
make pompom (optional)
